Privacy Policy - Weather Complications

Last Updated: August 25, 2026

Privacy Ethos

This app is designed as an independent, transparent utility. We believe your location and environmental data belong to you. Our core principles are:

Data Access & Permissions

The following system permissions are used to provide real-time weather information on your watch face.

Permission Usage & Purpose Feature Powered
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION Determines your precise coordinates to fetch hyper-local weather. Automatic location updates.
ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION Allows the watch to refresh weather while the screen is off. Active complications & tiles.
INTERNET Used to transmit coordinates to weather APIs and download data. All weather features.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Checks if your watch is online before attempting a refresh. Battery saving logic.

Data Sharing & External Services

To provide accurate forecasts, your watch sends your latitude and longitude coordinates to weather providers via encrypted HTTPS requests.

Coordinate Precision: To protect your privacy, coordinates are rounded to 4 decimal places (~11 meters) prior to transmission. This prevents exact house-level tracking while maintaining forecast accuracy.

Integrated Weather Providers

Depending on your settings, data may be requested from the following services:

WeatherAPI.com (Default) Privacy Policy
MET Norway (api.met.no) Privacy Policy
US National Weather Service (weather.gov) (US) Privacy Policy
OpenWeatherMap.org (Optional) Privacy Policy
Works exclusively as BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) where the user provides their own API key. This integration is entirely optional and experimental.
Google Maps Platform (Weather, AirQuality, Alerts API) (Optional) Privacy Policy
Works exclusively as BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) where the user provides their own API key. This integration is entirely optional and experimental.

Crash Reporting & Diagnostics (Optional)

To help improve application stability and diagnose bugs, the app contains optional crash reporting integrations:

Firebase Crashlytics (Google) Privacy Policy
Disabled by default. If you explicitly opt-in to crash reporting in the app settings, Crashlytics will transmit anonymous crash logs, stack traces, and basic device characteristics (such as OS version and device model) to help us identify and resolve bugs. No personally identifiable information (PII) or location data is ever included in these reports.
Google Play Data Safety Declarations:
  • Data Types: Crash logs & Device or other IDs.
  • Collected, Shared, or both? Collected only (not Shared, as Google/Firebase processes this data solely on our behalf).
  • Ephemeral Processing: No (Firebase stores crash logs and installation IDs on its servers for analysis).
  • User Choice: Users can choose whether this data is collected (collection is completely optional and controlled by an in-app toggle).
  • Purpose of Collection: App functionality and/or Analytics.

Data Storage & Retention

No Data Sale

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties. There are no background services collecting your location history for marketing purposes.

User Rights & Control

You have full control over your data directly from your watch:

Children's Privacy

This app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Our services are intended for a general audience.
